What is CAD CAM?

CAD/CAM system by CEREC is the latest innovations in the field of dentistry is a technology that restores damaged teeth, and this restoration can be completed in a single visit to our convenient Pointe-Claire office. The term CEREC denotes ceramic reconstruction or Chairside Economical Restoration of Esthetic Ceramics. In simple terms it means the reconstruction and replacement of your missing teeth. High quality and durable ceramic material is used to structure crowns, veneers, inlays and onlays for the teeth with this technology.

How does it work?

We prepare your tooth by drilling and shaping it to accommodate the crown. Then, images of your teeth are taken with a high resolution camera meant especially for the purpose. These images are uploaded into the computer allowing us to create a 3D image of the tooth to be restored. The milling machine proceeds to create a crown or tooth onlay from a block of ceramic according to the 3D model.

Once the restored tooth is ready, we can stain it to match with your existing set of teeth followed by polishing to give it the natural appearance.Once you are satisfied with it, we then glue it in place. The restoration process takes about an hour and you don’t need to go back for any adjustments later on.
